HoldemPoker.com

HoldemPoker Review Details
HoldemPoker.com is part of the Ongame group and, along with EuroPoker.com, is a skin site of PokerRoom.com. Since opening in 2004, this site has had a sleek design that is secure and user friendly, where you can meet other players and together learn how to play and develop your poker skills online. HoldemPoker promotes a skill nurturing environment, and with a broad player base, there is decent table action for beginning players and up. The play money versions of the games and 'The Daily' Freerolls provide a good set of tools to learn and build upon your poker skills.
Site/Services
8.6
This is another quality designed site that is well maintained. They also have an online community where poker and gaming (they also have a regular casino section) players can participate in chat forums. Their customer service/response is above average, and they offer multiple deposit/withdrawal options (including Neteller and Firepay).
Software/ Graphics
8.9
Software is by Ongame. Very clean and practical graphics, with colors on the darker side (in a good way). Playing on multiple tables is allowed, and only causes minor game delays once in a while. There is a great Statistics tab in the main lobby that allows you to check stats for your entire session, or by the type of game played. One distinctive quality of PokerRoom.com is that they offer a “light” software version that allows you to play online without having to download the software. They also have “Mobile Poker” software that allows you to play Limit Hold’em (play money and real) on certain mobile phones. Another interesting feature is that you can get instant chances of winning info for a hand after going all-in in a Texas Hold'em tournament game (for the downloaded client only). (Mac users can play poker/casino games via online/no download version.)
Games: Variety/Action
8.5
They keep a fairly busy board of Limit, Pot-Limit and No-Limit variations of Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo (the Omaha games usually thin out first). They also have solid action on their 7-Card Stud tables, but the games can get short-handed early in the night. Other games available are 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo and 5-Card Draw. With more of the activity leaning towards Hold’em games, there is also decent action in the Multi-Table and Sit & Go tournaments as well.
Players: Variety/Action
8.7
While it seems that a good portion of HoldemPoker players are fairly solid, it certainly doesn’t mean they are unbeatable. You'll find some consistent action for Hold'em games and tournaments. For Stud, the tables may thin out for a few off-peak hours, but the action is good when the seats are filled. The type of players I encountered, it paid to have a more patient, controlled-aggression style of play.
Promotions
8.2
With an average initial deposit bonus of 100% (up to $100), fairly regular reload bonuses, a nice Player Points program, HoldemPoker.com was rated slightly in the upper half of poker sites in this category. The player points can be used for entry into daily freeroll tournaments, to purchase cash bonus packages (cash back), and regular cash prizes are awarded to players earning the most Player Points in a certain amount of time.
Rake
8.5
They only received an average score here because they have a slightly higher rake max for lower level Limit games. Unfortunately, it was a bit difficult to find out detailed rake information and I ended up having to email my inquiry (which was answered in a fair amount of time).
Total Weighted Score
(out of 100)
85.8
